Interview with artist Karen Jaikowski

Blog interview featuring Karen Jaikowski.

Here is the first interview in my artist profile series. It features Las Vegas painter Karen Jaikowski.

JW: Tell us about this piece.
KJ: This is a piece I dreamt up in my head about a Prima Ballerina from the Russian Ballet. I always loved the Russian Ballet, the beauty and strength tied all in one.

JW: What medium did you use?
KJ: I used acrylics on this piece.

JW: What inspired you to create this piece?
KJ: Mystery, strength, beauty, and perseverance inspired me to do this piece, as I said the Russian Ballet inspired me to do this piece, the hours of work they put in to create a beautiful ballet with the feeling of excitement and awe,  I feel I transferred these emotions into the piece.

JW:  Is this available for purchase?
KJ: Yes you can purchase online at www.Jaikowskistudios.com or in person at Jaikowski Studios Gallery located at the famous Arts Factory.

JW: If you can choose any location for this amazing piece to have its final hanging place, where will that be?
KJ: I would hang it in the entry way or over the fireplace in the living room, it's a statement piece that will create a dialog with your friends and family.

An interview with our featured artist Dave Dave

JW: Why do you create art?
DD: I create art to inspire others.

JW: Why the Lifted series?
DD: The Lifted series was inspired by a conscious desire to inspire others to be greater than themselves

JW: What is it like exhibiting at JWC?
DD: Exhibiting at JWC was amazing because of the level of professionalism and support I have received not only at my show but in years prior. I have known Joseph since 1997 since I went to Art Center. I am honored to have had the opportunity to show at JWC

JW: What is the response on your newly launched Lifted shirts?
DD: I have received a powerful response in regards to my new Lifted t-shirts. People don't know whether to wear them or frame them.

Print of the Day "Community" 12-26-14

Every neighborhood has its good and bad qualities. This particular neighborhood is Watts, CA. When I took my first visit to the Watts Towers, I noticed various beautifully painted houses along the way. These houses really added charm to the neighborhood and I wanted to let the world in on these treasures.
